Häromdagen släpptes nya Firefox 3.6. Jag nämnde då att Ubuntu Mozilla Daily Build Team tillhandahåller den nya versionen via deras PPA-förråd, även om jag inte rekomenderade att använda sig av deras version eftersom att den inte är brandad, dvs att den versionen saknar Firefox-ikonen och inte heter Firefox, utan Namoroka, vilket är arbetsnamnet på utvecklingsversionen av Firefox 3.6.
Det finns dock ett annat förråd vid namn Firefox Stable Channel Packages som från och med igår tillhandahåller en stabil och brandad version av Firefox 3.6.
Om du vill använda dig av förrådet, lägger du till det via terminalen med kommandot:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mozillateam/firefox-stable
Uppdatera sedan ditt mjukvaruförråd:
sudo aptitude update
Installera slutligen dom nya tillgängliga uppdateringarna:
sudo aptitude dist-upgrade

Därför så gjorde jag tidigare en liten fuling och ladda ner direkt från mozilla och installerade 3.6 på egenhand

I think Andrew wants (should have) some credits when many blog posts here at Lathund seems to be ripped of from Andrew's blog. When Andrew finds some interesting things to write about, he always mention where he got the information from. In that way, the source to the information gets some credits for its work.

As I said before: I use a lot of different sources for a lot of the news etc. If you dont feel like sharing you shouldnt publish you posts.

I thought that the Community was about sharing and caring.
Well, it doesn't matter of it's blog about open source related projects or about sport/music/whatever. I guess it's more like a moral-thing. Imagine if someone "steals" some open source code, only changes I few things, then says "hey, this is my code", and then start to sell the product to earn some cash. Wouldn't be fair at all.
But hey, no one can force you to be thankful...

I read a tip about a repo and then blogged about it myself. How could that be stealing?
Theft is when you take anything from anybody. Eg an object or a scoop.
Why not look at this in another light?
Say that u read 20 newssite (like IDG and so on) or some Ubuntu Newsletter that contains info about updates, and find that Firefox 3.6 has been released...
All ppl that see that this has happened, and operates blogs like this, will instantly write about it...
As it only exist a few ways (sometimes only one way) to do the required stuff to fetch the update, ppl is bound to write simular blogposts...
I.e. if I find an CentOS Update about php 5.2 being pushed into CentOS Plus, that currently only is in Testing-repo, and i decide to write about this...
As it only exist ONE two ways to achieve this, i have to write either one of these:
yum --disablerepo=* --enablerepo=centosplus install php
apt-get (some param here to achieve the above) install php
If it exist 100 ppl writing about the same, it will be 100 copies about the same commands...

The blogs refers to the same command(s), 'cause it only exists two ways of doing it...
And well, most ppl write commands as hund does above, in boxes, to make 'em stand out...
So can we drop the "copyright" issue here?
It doesn't exist, and as long as this convo is held in english, i'm assuming u don't know swedish, and therefore u can't complain about the text...

När jag uppdaterade FF till 3.6 som du skrev genom PPA-förråd fungerar inte java applets längre. Försökte ta bort och installera om java men det hjälpte inte...
Använder du Sun Java? Jag använder en OpenJDK som är baserad på öppen källkod och det fungerar utan anmärkning för mig.
Såg hänvisning till detta inlägg på forumet och var tvungen att kolla upp vad det var för tjafs om copyright etc.
Kan säga att kommentarerna från de engelsktalande gav mig ett gott skratt

Man kan ju undra vad den bakomliggande orsaken är till att dom gnäller på en svensk blogg, nästan så att man börjar fundera på olika konstpirationsteorier.
